Partner schools

There are five countries in our project - Latvia, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Portugal. Here is some information about our schools participating in the project.

Project coordinator: 
Spain
Ferreries school is a public school. Our role in the project is to be the coordinator.  The school is situated in an area of the city where a lot of immigrants live. That means that we have got a 30% of immigrants. The sociocultural level of families is medium-low. Some of the immigrant families have economic problems. We have got a 18% of pupils with special needs.
In the school we have got 490 pupils in total from 3 years old to 12 years old. In the school there are two periods of education: Enfant Education (from 3-6 years old) and Primary Education (from 6 to 12 years old). The school staff is formed by 40 people. The main language is Catalan. The other languages studied in the school are Spanish and English. The principles of our school education are: democracy, solidarity, integration, innovation, equal opportunities, not discrimination and progress.


Project partners:
Sweden
Brattasskolan is a situated in Kallered outside Molndal in Sweden. Kallered is divided  into two parts depending of the highway. In Brattasskolan we have about 280 students and one third of them is immigrants. We have about 14 different languages in the school. We have about 35 persons working at the school.We have both families with a good economic standard but also families who needs help in many different ways from the community. Our role in the project is to participate and support the coordinator if its necessary.


Portugal
The primary school of Gândara dos Olivais is located in Gândara dos Olivais, a nice place just outside the historic city of Leiria, 3 km from the center and near the Lis river. It’s also 30 km from the well known Sanctuary of Fatima.
The school has six classrooms, a library, a canteen and a multi-sports field.
The school has 167 pupils aged between 5 and 10 years old, and 12 teachers work there. All the children are organized in 8 classes.
Our day at school begins at 8h15 and ends at 18h30, when the last children leave the school. This year, some children aged between 9 and 10 are participating in a project to learn how to swim in order to prevent accidents. We have also other activities such as: music, english and gymnastic.


Latvia
Zakumuiza Primary school was founded in year 1986. There are 155 students and 15 teachers in the school this year. Students are 7-16 years old. Our school provides general elementary education program. Today school offers also a variety of after school activities. Students can take part in sport clubs, art lessons, folklore ensemble, choir, folkdances. Main ceremonies of the school are: celebration of Latvian state holidays (Lacplesis day, anniversery of Latvia State Proclamation date) Teachers day, Christmas concert for parents and grandparents, celebration of Mothers day, St Valentins day and other. Our school is open to new ideas and approches, many teachers and students are involved in different projects- national and international.


Italy

In our District School we have one secondary school, three primary schools and two infant schools. These schools are situated in different villages belonging to Santo Stefano di Magra's municipal district. There are about 600 students and 75 teachers.
The School Institute has been participating in Comenius Projects for the last 7 years.
Our Institute is not located in a disadvantaged area, nowadays our region is heavily developed and presents a mixture of agricultural and industrial characteristics. Most of the families are middle-class. We haven't got pupils at risk of social exclusion and the pupils with special needs are 17. The number of the pupils that come from immigrant families is 10 % of our students.
Our school is called “29 Novembre” to remember a second World war event happened on 29.th November 1944, during the Resistance in Fosdinovo, a neighbouring village, where a lot of young Partisans had killed by enemy forces. 
The “Music house” is in the garden, was built for a disable pupil by a solidarity project. This house is a laboratory in which we play and study musuc with our students.It’s real name is “Casetta dei suoni” that means “a little house full of sounds”
